Mandate THEATRE With-Out-PaperS is a non-profit, Toronto based, Italian-Canadian Theatre Company, dedicated to being true to the heart of each individual project, 'The Theme'. Our aim is to create affordable interesting original works by means of combining certain aspects of traditional and physical theatre necessary to each project. With each project we strive for the challenge in expanding our limits in the work, as well artists in our own individual process, by using as little physical objects on stage. Further-more, we intend to create shows by ways of producing new works, by adapting novels to the stage or by evolving a simple concept into a collective with an ensemble. THEATRE With-Out-PaperS spawned from Italian roots but encourages Canadian works; even more so a wide range of ethnic backgrounds. Thoughts Antonino Pruiti and Dino Sepe were originally inspired by both the Jerzy Grotowski and Jacques Lecoq principles and methods. Over the last few years, what's become most important is figuring out a way to produce the best work possible by the least possible means. It is an obvious fact that money is hard to come by in the art industry. Therefore, to make it a little easier on us, it has become our main challenge to create work by whatever means possible (usually the venue is most of our projected budget). In doing so, we've learned more about the craft than we've ever imagined. It forces us to push the boundaries of our imaginations further each time. It is obvious in the craft that this would strengthen or sharpen your skills, forcing you to create more out of nothing. But what we never imagined is how it would affect us in our own personal lives; to ration and appreciate what we have. The best opportunity to improve your own personal craft is to use only the words on paper and nothing else to create something out of nothing. And even if success does not follow, we'll know that we've grown as artists and as human beings. Because we were able to experience one more world, and take one more adventure through another story. And for us, that is the greatest rush. |
